Two old shirts Watercolour 40 x 52cm
I am very happy to have been invited to exhibit at this prestigious watercolour event – Fabriano Watercolour 2026, Biennial International Prize, in Fabriano, Italy – 11 July until 27 September. I chose to submit the painting of two old shirts – it is close to my heart as it symbolises my husband’s working life when he retired.
“The International Biennial Prize “Marche d’Acqua – Fabriano Watercolour” is a competition that happens every two years in Fabriano. Established in 2010 by the City of Fabriano, a UNESCO Creative City, the prize invites 56 artists selected by an international jury from hundreds of candidates from all over the world. The works are exhibited in the evocative halls of the Museum of Paper and Watermark, the home of Fabriano’s ancient paper-making tradition.”
I am exhibiting alongside two of my fellow members from the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours (RI), Naomi Tyderman RI and Vincent Garcia Fuentes RI
Continuing the nest project …….
Birds and People: nests as records of our interconnected behaviour
Great Tit’s nest Watercolur 28.5 x 34 cm
I am continuing my project with Douglas DG Russell from the Natural History Museum. Having thought that I would do around 10 paintings, I have now completed number 12 and have a couple more in mind! From a small Great Tit’s nest containing fluorescent fluff to a Eurasian Wren’s nest made from heavy bits of string, they continue to inspire and intrigue me. Spreading over 125 years, each of these historic nests has a unique story and character. Their stories will be told in a tour of the series in 2027 travelling the width of the country from Pembrokeshire to Norfolk, starting at ‘Nature in Art’ in Gloucestershire and ending in London.
